EVANS -- Evan Geist pitched a six-hitter to win the opener, and Marist wrapped up the Class AAAA title with an 11-7 victory in Game 2 Friday.
Geist (8-1), a Florida State signee, struck out nine to lead Marist to a 5-0 victory in the opener of the best-of-three championship. Jeff Stoner took the loss for Lakeside.
After inclement weather delayed the start of Game 2, Clayton Miller got Lakeside off to a good start with a grand slam. But Anthony Sherlag countered with a two-run homer in the third and Marist knocked out Panthers' starter Ben Black in the fourth.
Blake Stevens earned the series-clinching win for Marist.
