Former Brenau Academy teacher accused of sexual assault

GAINESVILLE - A former teacher at Brenau Academy is charged with fondling one of his students last fall.

The incident was not reported until early last month when the girl's parents made a complaint with Gainesville Police and Brenau officials.

School spokesman David Morrison says Charles Wesley Agner, 41, Gainesville is no longer employed at Brenau.

Lt. Carol Martin of the Gainesville Police Department said Friday the girl reported that a teacher at the school touched her inappropriately between October 1 and November 30.

Agner is charged with Sexual Assault against Persons in Custody, the charge that relates to such incidents when the accused in a teacher, a jailer, etc.

In October, Gainesville police charged a Brenau University biology professor with child molestation.
