Centennial celebrates 'Walk to School Day'

GAINESVILLE - It was a new experience for a number of students from Centennial Arts Academy Tuesday morning.

Centennial celebrated "Walk to School Day."

Some students, many with their parents in tow, met at Rock Creek Park at 7:00 to began the trek through Rock Creek, Ivy Terrace and Wilshire Trails parks to their school.

Asst. Principal Leslie Frierson said the idea behind "Walk to School Day" is to promote healthy exercise, such as walking. Frierson noted that many of Centennial's students live within walking distance of the school. But, for many of them, this was a first... walking to school.

This was the first time Centennial has participated in "Walk to School Day."
