CLEVELAND - A White County woman fell victim to con artists recently who rang up thousands of dollars in charges to one of her credit cards.
The scam, according to the White County Sheriff's Office, started with a telephone call to the 52-year-old woman. The call told her she had won millions of dollars and a car but to claim the prize she had to send in $3,000 by Western Union.
The woman did that and she also gave them a credit card number because the caller said they would use it to put money in her account. Instead, they used the number to make purchases totaling $13,000.
