GAINESVILLE - A student at Gainesville's Alpine Psychoeducational Program is charged with assaulting two teachers.
The 12-year-old apparently became upset and tried to leave a room, according to Lt. Carol Martin of the Gainesville Police Department.
"When he was stopped, he threw a plastic/metal chair at the teachers, striking (them) in the leg," Martin said.
Martin added that the teacher required no medical treatment required, although, "they did have bruising to the legs."
The youngster was taken to Juvenile Court and then to Regional Youth Detention Center.
According to its Web site, the program provides educational service for Severely Emotionally/Behaviorally Disordered (SEBD) students and for students with Autism.
