Milledgeville seeks return to normalcy

By The Associated Press
MILLEDGEVILLE -- Milledgeville residents say they are looking forward to a return to normalcy after prosecutors announced that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won't face criminal charges.

Mayor Richard Bentley says he was ready to bid goodbye to the ESPN truck that has been parked in town for days and to the flurry of phone calls from reporters.

Jane Sowell of the Milledgeville Convention & Visitors Bureau says "I think the locals are tired of it and only want it to go away. And now that it's over, it may."

The town has been in the spotlight since a 20-year-old college student accused Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her inside a nightclub's bathroom on March 5. Prosecutors said Monday the student's accusations could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
