GAINESVILLE - The Days Inn Hotel is about to put Gainesville on the Hollywood map.
Days Inn owner, Jai Singh, announced Monday that Warner Brothers will be shooting a scene from the upcoming movie Hall Pass at the hotel Friday
"Days Inn was chosen from among 85 possible hotels. We are very excited to have this opportunity and provide such a great economic impact for the City of Gainesville. The scene they are shooting here revolves around our swimming pool
and a hotel room," Singh said. "The movie actually takes place in Providence, Rhode Island and will be headlined by Actresses Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate and Alyssa Milano and Actor Owen Wilson."
Tracy Whitmire of the Gainesville Communications and Tourism Office has been working with movie executives on the logistics of the event.
"Film crews will begin arriving in Gainesville Tuesday," said Whitmire.
She said 40 to 50 trucks are expected by Friday.
"Part of Banks Street from Queen City Parkway to Jesse Jewell will be closed to thru traffic to secure the set and portions of Queen City Parkway will be stopped for brief periods during shooting," said Whitmire.
Hall Pass will be in theaters in 2011.
