GAINESVILLE - Gainesville state troopers are finally in their new home... nearly two years after moving into temporary quarters while the old building was torn down and new facility was constructed.
A spokesman for the post confirmed the move Saturday morning.
"Temporary office space has been set up behind the old post," GSP Director of Public Information Gordy Wright said in June 2008 when construction crews began demolishing on the old building.
Wright said at the time that a newer, more modern facility was needed so the state patrol "can better serve the Gainesville area."
He added "Especially with the technology that has evolved with computers and the like, a new facility is needed so that they can more effectively do their jobs."
