HCC consultant Carlyle Cox leaving library board

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - The consultant at the center of a controversy over the fees he was being paid by Hall County and under what circumstances has resigned his seat on the county library board.

Carlyle Cox's resignation was announced Monday morning by county administrator Charley Nix.

Last month, Commission Chairman Tom Oliver said Cox had received unauthorized payments for his consulting work, and his spot on the library board came under fire as the county announced it would build the new North Hall library on Nopone Road instead of in Clermont.

Oliver says he will appoint Chestnut Mountain resident Erica Cooper to replace Cox. Cooper was raised in Clermont.
