GAINESVILLE -- In a region where most teams are still trying to find themselves, Gainesville baseball made a big statement in Region 7-AAA on Friday against Johnson at Ivey-Watson Field.
The Red Elephants pounded out 10 hits against three Johnson pitchers in taking an impressive 13-1 win in five innings over the Knights.
Johnson (9-7, 5-3 Region 7B-AAA) had a chance to move within one game of Gainesville for second place with a win, but instead the Red Elephants (13-1, 8-0) set up a showdown with fellow unbeaten Lambert on Monday in Cumming for first place.
