Hall buys a lake for its new reservoir

By Jerry Gunn
GAINESVILLE - Another piece is in place in Hall County's continuing effort to build the Glade Farm Reservoir. The county has purchased the 100-acre Little Glades Farm Lake. The announcement came Thursday from Commissioner Steve Gailey. Glades Farm is in the North Hall District.

"This is another step forward," Gailey said. "The actual reservoir is going to impact this lake, this lake is going to be under water, let's put it that way."

Gailey said the county did not pay any additional money than what was paid when the Glades Farm property was purchased. Gailey said he's hoping for on-schedule Corps of Engineer approval for the 800 acre reservoir.

" I would still think that we should be ok," Gailey said. "Maybe we'll have the permit within nine months to a year.

Gailey said the permit request was modified to a pump and storage design which increase daily water supply from seven to 75 million gallons a day.
