Bannister target of recall

LAWRENCEVILLE - A move has been launched to recall Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charles Banister.

A recall application was filed Friday in Lawrenceville.

Elections officials have one week to verify the signatures on the application. If that happens, then 30 percent of registered Gwinnett voters would have to sign a recall petition before a recall vote could be held.

The recall effort against Bannister is part of the citizen backlash over an increase in taxes this year and the garbage pickp plan approved by the commission last week.
