New allegations revealed in HCC probe

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commission Chairman Tom Oliver is refusing to comment on a report alleging, among other things, thousands of dollars in overpayments to a woman while she was working for the county.

WNEG-TV in Toccoa - quoting an unnamed source - is also reporting there are records showing more than 300 text messages, on county-issued phones, between Oliver and the former employee, a number of them after hours - some after 8:00 at night and some in the early morning hours.

Oliver, the television station reported, would not comment... saying only that "everything will come out once the investigation is over."

Approached by AccessNorthGa.com Thursday at a Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce meeting in Gainesville and asked to comment on any recent revelations about the operation of county government, he again declined comment, while referring to the review of the allegations now underway by Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh.

A citizens group last week turned a number of documents it says detail misdeeds in county government operations over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation which gave them to Darragh.
