Boys soccer: Creekview rallies past North Hall

By staff reports
Creekview rallied with two goals in the final minutes to tie the game and then outscored North Hall in a penalty shootout to take a 4-3 win over North Hall in a Region 7-AAA battle.

North Hall opened the game strong, scoring in the opening minute but Creekview tied the game on a Jordan McClellan goal -- off a corner from Marin Penaloza and the two teams went into halftime with a 1-1 tie.

The Trojans looked to be in control with a 3-1 lead with just under 15 minutes left in the game. But Creekview's Conner Keating rifled a shot past the Trojans' keeper and Penaloza scored on a cross from Tyler Hamilton to end the game in a tie in regulation.

Creekview goalie Jalen Camp made several game-saving stops in a scoreless overtime that sent the game into penalties. The Grizzlies inserted a new keeper for the shootout, and Max Lense responded, blocking two shots during the best-of-five shootout to seal the win.

Nathaniel Martinez, Jeffery Hunter, Devin Resindez, and Marin Penaloza scored in the shootout for Creekview.
