Oakwood fire injures one

OAKWOOD - One person was injured in a house fire in Oakwood Wednesday night.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell says one of two people living in the McClure Drive residence suffered second-degree burns to one arm.

"Upon arrival, we found an 1,800 square foot home heavily involved with fire," Kimbrell said. "Initially firefighters made an interior attack, but then backed out to make a defensive attack because of the volume of fire."

Though the smoke alarms did not activate, according to the occupants, one of them did wake up and alert the other so they could flee the flames.

The fire caused about $100,000 damage.
