SANDY SPRINGS -- Riverwood's Kyle Davidson hit a 40-foot shot with two seconds left to lift the Raiders to a 55-52 win over Johnson on Wednesday in the second round of the Class AAA boys basketball playoffs.
Johnson had tied the score with 11 seconds left and looked to be staring at overtime. But Riverwood was able to get ball through the Johnson zone defense to Davidson, who drained the long-range shot.
The Knights (17-13) had battled back from an eight-point deficit in the third quarter to tie the score before the heartbreaking shot.
Johnson came out strong, opening the game with a 17-9 run but then went four straight possession without getting off a shot as Riverwood was able to rally for a 24-22 lead by halftime.
Davidson would finish with 16 points to lead Riverwood. Alex Vitale had 14 points and Trey Robinson 11 for the Raiders.
E.J. Wright had a solid game for Johnson with a team-high 17 points to go with eight rebounds. Trey Dudley added 11 for the Knights.
