Braselton leads ARC population growth

ATLANTA - If you have lived in or around Atlanta for very long, you have no doubt noticed a lot of new neighbors moving in over the past decade.

Now, a new report from the Atlanta Regional Commission - which comes from the Atlanta Business Chronicle and is quoted by Georgia News Network - shows a lot of smaller cities have seen their populations more than double since 2000, led by Braselton.

The data, which include cities in 20 counties in and around Atlanta, identify several cities with more than 100 percent population growth:

Braselton -- up 212.9 percent to 3,773
Grayson -- up 209.4 percent to 2,367
Holly Springs -- up 180.9 percent to 8,974
Canton -- up 160.4 percent to 20,072
Woodstock -- up 129.8 percent to 23,095
McDonough -- up 127.6 percent to 19,330
Locust Grove -- up 120.7 percent to 5,124
Stockbridge -- up 117 percent to 21,381
