Gainesville BOE okays furlough days

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville School Board has settled on January 8, February 15 and April 2 as the next round of mandated furlough days for city teachers.

Teachers and students, as well, missed school on January 8 because of icy roads.

Meanwhile, the school board was told Monday night that steps are being taken to make sure students excel on their state mandated tests.

Superintendent Merrianne Dyer says the students are being given a test that is similar to the end of course test. The test is being given three times leading up to the real thing.
