DOT okays bids on $29 million worth of road work

ATLANTA - The state Department of Transportation has awarded dozens of contracts for a variety of projects across the state, including two in northeast Georgia.

The work, which is valued at more than $29 million, includes the usual Department tasks such as resurfacing roadways and rehabilitating bridges on state and federal highways Also, this month, millions of dollars in state aid grants to municipalities and counties across Georgia for local transportation improvement projects.

The Jackson County project is intersection improvements at State Route 98 and B. Wilson Road and King Road. The low bid was for $869,534.

The work planned in Barrow County involves intersection improvements at State Route 211 and Horton Street and McNeal Road. The amount of that low bid was $1.7 million.
