Changes coming for Gainesville garbage collection

GAINESVILLE- The new year will bring with it changes in the garbage collection schedule in the Gainesville, effective January 3rd. They include the placement of garbage cans on collection days, the proper bagging of garbage, and the maximum amount per pick up, which is 96 gallons.

In addition, January 3rd is also the day the city will assume the responsibility for collecting recyclables.

And, a $7.00 fee will be added to monthly water bills to help pay for twice-a-week backdoor garbage collection.
