Services for Jetton scheduled Wednesday

GAINESVILLE - A Celebration of Life is scheduled Wednesday for Art Jetton, a longtime retired Hall County sheriff's deputy who was instrumental in the formation of the sheriff's office dive team.

Jetton, who was 59, retired as a lieutenant and after 30 years of service.

He was among who laid the groundwork for the formation of the dive team in 1979 and was a member of the team for many years. Jetton was also heavily involved with the SWAT Team and its training and served as a Public Information Officer for the department for a number of years. Jetton also served for a time as a public safety officer at Gainesville State College.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 11:00 Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Evans and Rev. Shawn Peppers will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 at Memorial Funeral Home North Chapel on Riverside Drive.
