DULUTH - As holiday shipping deadlines approach, the U.S. Postal Service reminds us many Post Offices in the area are open late this time of year and throughout the year.
"We have 30 Post Offices that are open beyond the normal 8 to 5 hours," says Atlanta District Manager Kate F. Wiley, "including several with hours as late as 8 p.m. or later."
Wiley says to avoid growing lines, customers should look for Automated Postal Centers (APCs), located at many Post Offices in the greater Atlanta area, to avoid standing in line. "APCs accept credit and debit cards for most mailing transactions," says Wiley. "Nearly every transaction that can be accomplished at the retail window can also be transacted at the APC. They are accessible 24 hours a day."
The Gainesville post office branches are not among those with extended hours but there are a number in adjoining counties that are on the list: one in Forsyth County on Tribble Gap Road and three in Gwinnett - two in Lawrenceville (on East Grogan Street and Buford Drive) and one in Suwanee on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
