Youth minister facing more rape, molestation charges

By Staff
WINDER - A youth minister from Winder is facing even more charges for a sexual relationship authorities say he had with a 16-year-old member of his Monroe area church.

Oconee County authorities charged 32-year-old Brian Richard Gray with child molestation and statutory rape last month.

Now Barrow County authorities have filed 58 additional charges relating to the same alleged victim, according to Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith.

Smith said Gray began his relationship with the girl in Monroe, but they said they've uncovered evidence that he then drove the teen to his Winder home for sex at least three times a week.

"He has 17 charges for child molestation, 17 for of statutory rape, 17 for enticing a child for indecent purposes, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, four counts of sexual battery and one count of sodomy," said Smith.

He said a second member of the Monroe youth group told authorities she also had sex with Gray, but the girl was 17 at the time so no charges were filed.
