GAINESVILLE - The demolition of the old Gainesville Public Safety Building (PSB) is scheduled to begin in two weeks.
City officials say the work is set to begin December 15.
The police and fire departments and municipal court which used the building for the past 35 years recently moved into a new public safety complex on Queen City Parkway.
Demolition of the building will clear the way for construction of a pedestrian bridge over Jesse Jewell Parkway, connecting downtown and Midtown. Part of the property will also be used for the high-rise City View complex which has been on the drawing boards by a private developer for several years.
