BUFORD - The level of Lake Lanier is up almost a foot following this week's heavy rains.
The level of the lake has increased .81 foot since Monday... and is now at 1068.70.
Rainfall across the Upper Chattahoochee River Basin, which feeds Lanier, amounted to around 2 inches in places when that storm system moved through north Georgia Tuesday.
The current lake level is just over a foot shy of the optimum for for the winter months... and about two feet below full pool, which is 1071.
