Fire strikes two mobile homes, two cars

GAINESVILLE - An early morning fire Tuesday destroyed a mobile home and car on the southside of Gainesville and damaged another mobile home and car.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell says city and county fire units responded to the fire which occurred around 3:00.

Kimbrell said the fire was in a mobile home park at 1914 Industrial Boulevard.

"Upon arrival, firefighters found a passenger car and a mobile home fully involved with exposure danger to others," Chief Kimbrell said. "(The) fire was quickly extinguished, without incident or injury."

Kimbrell said the car where the fire started had been parked less than ten feet from the mobile home. He added that one of the occupants of the mobile home had just arrived home and shortly afterward "heard (a) popping noise and discovered the vehicle and mobile home on fire.

He says the fire did spread to the underpinning on a neighbor's mobile home and a second vehicle.

Though it does appear the fire started in one of the cars, the cause has not been determined.

Kimbrell said the fire left one mobile home and one car total losses and caused minor damage to the second mobile home and car.
