(Cleveland)- The White County Commissioners have awarded a contract for the construction of the new county maintenance building on Truelove Road, south of Cleveland. At a meeting Thursday the commissioners awarded Rick Gailey Construction the contract at a cost of $173,882.
County Clerk Shanda Smallwood said the funds for this project will come out of the 2008 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds. Smallwood said county crews have been doing prep work at the site and the commissioners indicated they wanted this project to be completed as soon as possible. Charles Black Construction is the construction manager for the project.
The commissioners also awarded a contract to Precision Metal Buildings of Cleveland the contract for the renovation work, for the former Board of Education Building on Brook Street, which will be used as the new Tax Commissioners office. The contract was for $109,990 and Smallwood said the funds for this project will come from the sale of property along the Cleveland Bypass area, to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
