GAINESVILLE - Some west hall residents had to do without water service for a while Thursday morning because of a water main break in the Sardis area west of Gainesville.
Water customers lost service around 8:30 a.m. when a main line broke at the intersection of Chestatee Road and Green Hill Road,and a Gainesville Water department repair crew got busy making repairs.
Workers said they expected to restore service before noon as a backhoe dug down through the mud to find the break stop the water flow. Homes along a section of Chestatee near Green Hill as well as homes on Green Hill Raoad lost service.
Approaching motorists were cautioned to slow down since the work was underway on a hillside. Cause of the water main break was not immediately known.
