Rash of air conditioning thefts in White Co.

CLEVELAND - The White County Sheriff's Office is turning to the public for help in catching some air conditioning thieves.

Capt. Jim Couch said they had several such thefts last week alone, beginning with the four units taken from the White County Head Start-Pre K facility in Cleveland. Couch said the thefts have occurred mostly in the south end of the county.

The latest to occur was a week ago at Cleveland Dentistry on U.S. 129 South. According to Couch, in one incident at the abandoned J & J Mobile Home Park around 20 units were taken. He said the thieves are also taking copper tubing from propane gas tanks.

The sheriff s office is asking anyone with information to come forward or if you see anything suspicious late at night at a business to call 911.
