Five non-profits awarded $25,000

GAINESVILLE - United Way of Hall County has awarded $25,000 in grants to four non-profit agencies and programs in Gainesville.

The money comes through the J. Cleon Nalley Educational Enhancement Fund.
For the purpose of these grants, United Way President Jackie Wallace says "educational enhancements" are initiatives or programs that "fulfill United Way of Hall County's mission of uniting people, organizations and resources to improve lives in Hall County."

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County is getting $9,000 for use in the purchase of books, computers, software, and instructional materials for its "Library/Bookworms Reading Program."

The Guest House will use $6,000 to purchase technology, equipment and materials to equip and modernize its educational space to allow for expansion of
programs in the area of aging and Alzheimer's education.

Health Access Initiative (HAI) is getting $5,000 to develop recruitment materials to enlist additional volunteer physicians to provide specialized care to the uninsured and underinsured in the community via the HAI Network.

Good News Clinics will provide educational materials and laboratory
tests to expand the number of classes, and thus, patients served, in
its diabetes education program. The total of its grant is also $5,000.
