Three arrested in West Ave. stabbing

GAINESVILLE - Three teenagers have been arrested in the stabbing of an 18-year-old man on West Avenue earlier this week.

Gainesville police said the four were involved in a fight Tuesday, October 19 at 738 West Avenue. During the course of the fight, someone pulled a knife and stabbed the victim a number of times in the upper torso. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers said they were able to find two suspects close to the crime scene shortly after the incident; the other suspect was found at another location and arrested October 20.

Christian Brito, 17, of Gainesville was charged with aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act. Police also arrested a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old and charged them with the same offenses in the fight; they were not identified because they are charged as juveniles.
