Warriors rout West Hall

OAKWOOD -- Oconee County scored the final 35 points to pull away from West Hall in a 42-7 Region 8B-AAA win at West Hall Stadium Friday night.

Things started badly for the Spartans (3-4, 1-2 Region 8B-AAA), as Oconee County (2-5, 1-2) ran back the opening kickoff for a touchdown for a quick 7-0 lead. The Spartans got back in the game on their next possession when Shunquez Stephens capped a solid drive with a 2-yard TD pass to Brandon Fuqua to tie the game at 7-7.

Oconee County retook the lead for good on its next possession, however, and eventually lead 22-7 at halftime. West Hall had opportunities to cut into the Warriors' lead with four trips inside their territory, including two in the red zone, but came away with no points in the second half.

Things don't get any easier for West Hall, who plays host to Monroe Area next week and then travels to No. 8 Gainesville in the subregion finale.
