Winder school getting $5,000 technology grant

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
WINDER - A ceremony is planned Thursday morning at Winder-Barrow Middle School at which Windstream will award the school a $5,000 classroom technology grant.

The grant is one of ten $5,000 Windstream Classroom Connections awards the communications company is handing out to northeast Georgia schools.

In order to compete for the grants, a video expressing the need for a technology update at each school had to be submitted... and people who saw the videos, online, then voted on which schools should get the money.

Four schools won the top prize of $25,000 each, and 10 schools were the winners of $5,000 each.

The Windstream Lifetime Tour will be in Winder all day... a green truck making its way around town surprising people by picking up the lunch tab or filling up their gas tanks and these are only some of the ways Windstream will be giving back to Winder, according to area manager Eland Jones.
