CLEVELAND - White County School Superintendent Dr. Paul Shaw announced Thursday Gregg Segraves has resigned as a teacher and head football coach at White County High School, a week after he was placed on leave for unspecified reasons.
The team's defensive coordinator, Tommy Flowers, is serving as interim head coach.
In a two-sentence e-mail Thursday afternoon, Dr. Shaw said Segraves' resignation will be effective December 31. Shaw advised that Segraves would be on administrative leave through that date. As in the earlier announcement, school officials would not provide any further details.
Segraves, when reached by phone later in the day, also did not want to elaborate saying only that he was "resigning to protect my family."
