DACULA - The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the two teenagers who died Saturday after falling through the ice into a partially frozen Gwinnett County pond.
Ted Bailey, Chief Forensic Investigator with the office, said Sunday afternoon they are Marvens Mathurin, 13, and Jacob Bullock, 14.
A third teen also fell into the water but survived.
Two of the boys who got trapped in the pond were unresponsive and unconscious when Gwinnett County fire officials pulled them from the water.
Rescue workers say the three boys, ages 13 to 15, tried to walk across the semi-frozen pond in on Daniel Park Run in Dacula when the ice broke.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services Capt. Tommy Rutledge says, "One of the boys escaped, but the other two got trapped under the ice and spent about 45 minutes in the frigid water".
Rescue workers were dispatched at 2:30 p.m. Firefighters in a swift water rescue boat used a 10-foot pole to pull the boys from water at 3:20 p.m.
