Oakwood man killed in Sunday afternoon crash

GAINESVILLE - The name of the Oakwood man killed in a one-car crash Sunday afternoon south of Gainesville has been released.

Officials with the Georgia State Patrol said 22-year-old Matthew Green was speeding north on Old Flowery Branch Road when he lost control in a curve. Authorities said Green struck a number of trees and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Green's passenger, 20-year-old Angel Ibarrondo, was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with serious injuries. Georgia State Patrol authorities said Ibarrondo is expected to recover.
