Girls basketball: No. 1 Buford routs Gainesville

BUFORD - Class AA No. 1-ranked Buford remained unbeaten with an impressive 65-34 win over Class AAA Gainesville Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Wolves (8-0) have now beaten five Region 7-AAA teams in the early part of the season.

Senior Alysha Rudnik and Sheresse Williams each scored 14 points to pace Buford, which plays host to Westminster on Tuesday.

Gainesville (4-5) could never get on track as Buford put the clamps on was led by Wake Forest commit Jaymee Carnes early. Carnes finished with just 14 points along with Mikalyn DeFoor.

Gainesville next will travel to arch-rival East Hall on Tuesday in a key Region 7B-AAA matchup.
