Two Escape Injury In White County Accident

(Cleveland)- A driver and passenger escaped serious injury Thursday night when their vehicle left the roadway went down an embankment and caught on fire in Northern White County. White County Fire Department spokeswoman Ana Newberry said the call was received at 7:52 PM.

Volunteer fire fighters from the White County Fire Department with mutual aid from the city of Helen responded to the single vehicle accident off Richard Russell Scenic Highway at White Oak Gap. According to Newberry, both driver and passenger safely escaped from the vehicle and were able to climb the bank back up to the roadway.  Upon arrival of fire units, the vehicle was fully involved.

Richard Russell Highway was shut down for approximately 1 hour; no one was injured in the accident and transport to the hospital was refused by the occupants.  The vehicle a  truck was  a total loss.  Firefighters were on scene for an hour and a half.
