Softball: Fullem leads No. 1 Buford to ninth-straight win

BUFORD - Karley Fullem allowed just two hits and no earned runs in leading Class AA No.1-ranked Buford to a 7-1 win over Greater Atlanta Christian Thursday in Region 6-AA softball action.

Fullem (6-1) pitched four innings and struck out five to earn the win. Junior Melissa Dickie came on in relief and pitched the final three innings to get the save. Dickie surrendered just one hit and fanned to GAC batters.

The Buford offense pounded out six hits and took advantage of one GAC error.

However, it was GAC that jumped out to a quick lead scoring onece in the first and it stayed that way until the fourth inning.

The Lady Wolves finally got their offense going and blew the game open with five runs in the fourth. They added two more runs in the fifth to put the game away.

Senior Alysha Rudnik finished with two hits, including a two-run home run, and three RBI to lead te Buford offense. Junior Chelsie Thomas had two hits and scored twice and sophomore Lexi Overstreet had one hit and one RBI for the Lady Wolves.

Buford (12-3, 2-0 in region) pushed its win streak to nine with the victory and will travel to Blessed Trinity on Tuesday.
