GAINESVILLE - The schedule for the 2009 Jackson EMC 50th Annual Lanierland Basketball Tournament has been released.
The annual tournament will be held Dec. 4-12 at Lakeview Academy and Flowery Branch High School.
The biggest change will be in the format used to seed the eight teams on both the boys and girls brackets. A random draw was held last week at the Northeast Georgia History Center Sports Hall of Fame to seed the teams.
Draw will be by school and will apply to boys and girls teams. This will allow boys and girls teams from each school to play back-to-back games in the first round.
The results of the draw will be announced at a later date.
Among other changes to this year's event: the semifinals will be played on Thursday instead of Friday and a consolation round for the fifth- to eighth-place teams will be held on Friday.
