Athens Hwy. resurfacing ready to go

GAINESVILLE - Another economic stimulus road project set to go in the Gainesville area.

It's the resurfacing of Athens Highway between Gillsville Highway and Monroe Drive, and it is scheduled to begin tonight..

State Department of Transportation officials say it will occur overnight Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., between now and the end of April. One lane will be closed as crews work. DOT officials say. One lane will remain open for traffic while crews work, leaving the other lane open for traffic.

The three-mile project is expected to cost $1.1 million.
