HALL COUNTY - The East Hall girls volleyball team made a little bit of history Tuesday taking first-ever wins over Chestatee and Johnson Tuesday in a pair of Area 7-AAA matches.
The Lady Vikings needed the games in each match to get the wins. The knocked off Chestatee in the first match 25-17,21-25,25-13 and won two close games over Johnson 25-21,25-23 to complete the sweep.
East Hall improved to 3-2 in area play with the wins. Stormy Hornsby led East Hall with 26 points scored on serve with 12 aces, and she added six kills, three assists, and 11 digs.
Chelsea Nyamapaguma had 16 points scored on serve with three aces, two assists and three digs and Ashleigh Baugh had 11 points scored on serve with three aces, five assists and 11 digs for East Hall.
Maricela Castillo added eight points scored on serve with four aces, four kills, eight digs and two blocks while Courtney Bivens had four points scored on serve with three aces, eight kills and five5 digs. Hannah Hix added six kills, 13 assists, four digs and one block for the Lady Vikings.
For Johnson, the Lady Knights had knocked off Chestatee 25-15, 25-19 to set up the match against East Hall.
The Lady Knights (7-8, 3-2) were led by Caitlin Slaon who had six kills and four aces. Britt Mimbs added five assists to lead Johnson. Mary Fiorentino had seven kills and Kellsie Brisbois seven digs for the Lady Knights.
