GAINESVILLE - The completion of the Exit 16 reconstruction in Oakwood has been pushed back to "sometime in October."
The Georgia Department of Transportation had hoped to have it finished by Labor Day but spokeswoman Teri Pope said Friday recent rains have slowed final work.
Pope says most of the major components of the project have been finished but there is still work to do on I-985 at and near the interchange, including, she said, the installation of about three miles of cable barrier in the median.
In addition, Pope notes that crews will be prohibited from working between next Thursday night and the following Monday night because of the Labor Day holiday period.
