ATLANTA - Tropical Storm Claudette, which rolled into Florida during the night and then into Alabama, could bring heavy rains to parts of Georgia, especially southwestern and west Georgia.
The rest of the state should watch for pop-up thunderstorms and possible heavy rain.
Assistant State Climatologist Pam Knox says this is just what the state needs as we approach "the fall dry period. This time of year a lot of our rain comes from tropical systems."
Rainfall of 3 to 6 inches was expected, with isolated areas getting up to 10 inches along the Panhandle, the Big Bend region, central and southern Alabama and southwestern Georgia, forecasters said.
