ATLANTA - Hall County's first road project funded by economic stimulus money is scheduled to begin Monday as contracts are awarded for three Gwinnett projects.
The Hall County project involves the resurfacing of Mount Vernon Road from Dahlonega Highway to State Route 52, 9.3 miles of work with a price tag of $1.29 million.
The cost of the Gwinnett projects has been put at $42 million and includes work on Georgia highways 324 and 20 and McGinnis Ferry Road.
MOUNT VERNON WORK
Work will occur weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or after 7:00 p.m., as weather permits.
Because North Hall Middle School and High School are along the project special work hour restrictions were added. Crews will not be allowed to work within one-half mile of the schools between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to minimize the impact of road work on students, staff and parents. If the weather cooperates, work should be finished this calendar year, explained Russell McMurry, DOT District Engineer.
Flaggers will stop traffic and then pilot vehicles will lead motorists through the work zone.
The estimated construction cost of this 9.3 mile resurfacing project is $1.29 million. C W Matthews Contracting, Inc of Marietta is the contractor.
