MIAMI -- NL batting leader Hanley Ramirez left the Florida Marlins' game Saturday with a bruised left leg after being hit by a pitch, but he may be back in the lineup quickly.
Ramirez limped away from the plate after being hit by Carlos Zambrano in the third inning and crumpled to the ground in pain near the backstop. He remained in the game and scored from second base on a single by Jeremy Hermida, but was replaced at shortstop in the next inning by Emilio Bonifacio.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Ramirez might be able to play Sunday.
"He's optimistic," Gonzalez said. "He may be available."
Ramirez's bruise was just above the knee, Gonzalez said.
"It might be a little more muscle than the actual bone," Gonzalez said. "I think it's more in the thigh area than the actual knee."
Ramirez is batting .343 with 16 homers and 69 RBIs. He has missed only five games this season.
