VA launches new GI Bill program

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
WASHINGTON - Six colleges in northeast Georgia - public and private - have agreed to participate in a revised GI Bill program.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is for veterans who have served since 9/11 and will permit them to attend college at little or no cost, according to the Veterans Administration.

The northeast Georgia schools that are participating are: Brenau University in Gainesville, Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, Piedmont College in Demorest, Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland and Young Harris College in Young Harris

The basics of the plan call for the federal government to cover tuition and fees up to the amount it would cost to attend the most expensive public college in each state.
