UNDATED - Plans are in the works for a new hospital in Newnan expected to create 500 new jobs... and there's new hope for the jobs that have been on the line at the Marietta Lockheed-Martin plant.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America announced plans Thursday for a new cancer hospital in Newnan. But a timeline for its construction was not announced.

When it is built, it is expected to serve cancer patients from all over the Southeast, and create a $500 million economic windfall to the the Newnan area during its first five years of operation.

Meanwhile, there's new hope for the thousands of jobs associated with the F-22 program at the Lockheed-Martin plant in Marietta.

The House Armed Services Committee has approved $369 million to continue production of the stealth fighter jets.

The Pentagon has recommended scrapping the program after 187 of the planes have been delivered. That's dozens fewer than were in the original order.
