Tech baseball handed NCAA regional

ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech has been picked as one of 16 teams to host NCAA baseball regionals.

The rest of the field and tournament pairings will be announced on Monday. Georgia is expected to land an invitation, possibly to Georgia Tech's regional.

Georgia State won its first Colonial Athletic Association title on Saturday to secure its first spot in the NCAA regionals.

Georgia Tech has served as host of eight previous regionals, including five straight years from 2002-06.

Each regional field in the double-elimination format includes four teams, with games scheduled from Friday to Monday, June 1.

The College World Series begins on June 13 in Omaha, Neb.
