Fox hopes for US cooperation in drug war

By The Associated Press
KENNESAW - Former Mexican President Vicente Fox says he is encouraged by the Obama administration's acceptance of some responsibility for the intense drug violence ravaging Mexico.

But he added in an interview with The Associated Press Tuesday that he's skeptical about whether it will lead to concrete U.S. actions.

The U.S. needs work to reduce the demand for drugs and stem the flow of guns and other weapons to Mexico, not just send troops to the border to quell the violence that has overflowed into some cities in the southwestern U.S.

He said the two countries need to work together to solve the problem and put an end to the violence.
